How to Find a Good Morning America Email Contact and Get Featured
By Zach Schleien
Finding a Good Morning America email contact requires targeting specific producers rather than a general inbox. Learn the system to land major TV features.
There is no single Good Morning America email address that gets you on the show. GMA is produced by ABC News, and bookings happen through the individual producers and bookers who put segments together. The real skill is finding the right producer email, not the show's.
My family story ran on Good Morning America twice in 2020. None of it came from a magic inbox. It came from finding the right people and sending them a pitch worth opening.
Why the show does not have one pitch email
Good Morning America is a news show made by ABC News. Every segment has a producer behind it. Different producers cover different kinds of stories, like health, parenting, consumer picks, and human interest.
There are public contact forms on the network website, but a pitch sent there is a lottery ticket. The odds it reaches the person who books segments are terrible.
I think about press the same way at every outlet. Your press universe is every reporter or producer who covers your kind of story. That list can span 100 outlets, and a single outlet can have up to 20 reporters on it. TV works the same way. One show has many producers, each with their own lane.
How my story got on Good Morning America
In March 2020, my dad got COVID early. Twelve days in, his oxygen dropped and he was hospitalized. He is a physician and was the Chair of Pediatrics at a major New York health system at the time. He wrote his own story while he was still in the hospital.
After he got home, I started emailing journalists. I sent roughly 70 pitches, one to every New York Times writer covering that beat. One of them forwarded it to the op-ed editor, and the op-ed ran on April 9, 2020.
Then the wave hit. Fox News, Good Morning America, and CNN covered the survival story. In May, the children health angle brought USA Today, Newsday, and Good Morning America a second time. In September, the school reopening debate got us into the Washington Post within a week.
I did not start with a Good Morning America email address. I started with an angle, pitched the people covering that beat at volume, and one placement compounded into the rest.
Pick the angle before you hunt for an email address
The order matters. I pick the angle first, then I find the people who cover that beat, then I pitch at volume. A morning show producer does not care about your product launch. They care about a story their viewers are already following.
When COVID hit in early 2020, I pitched one angle for my dating app, Filteroff: singles stuck at home were video dating to find love in lockdown. I pitched essentially every journalist covering the pandemic. The BBC and the New York Times both covered us within weeks. I covered this in more depth in I Got 200+ Press Features Without an Agency. Here's How to Pitch Journalists for Press Coverage..
When gas prices spiked, the angle became high gas prices mean fewer first dates. Attach your story to whatever reporters are already covering that week.
Find the producers, not the show
Once the angle is set, build a list of actual humans. For a TV show, that means producers and bookers. If you are doing it by hand, look here:
LinkedIn: Search producer and booker titles at the show and at ABC News. X bios: Many producers say exactly what stories they are looking for. * Bylines: The digital team writes up segments, and writers can point you toward the right producer.
Don't stop at one name. Up to 20 people at one outlet might be a fit for your story. List everyone whose past segments look like yours.
Before you email anyone, watch two or three of their recent segments. You can reference a segment by name in your first line. If your story is big, offer it as an exclusive to the best-fit person.
Get the email address without a database
Once you have names, you need addresses. Most articles tell you to buy a media database like Muck Rack or Cision. Those tools are often overpriced for a founder.
PressPitch AI finds the journalists and producers who cover your beat, writes a personalized pitch for each one, sends the emails, and tracks opens.
If you do it by hand, email lookup tools like Hunter or Apollo show you the email pattern a company uses. Verify before you send with a tool like NeverBounce. Verifying matters because if your emails bounce or land in spam, your pitch never gets read.
Write a pitch a producer will open
I write one master pitch per campaign, which takes me 1 to 2 hours. Then I vary only the name and publication and send it to 200 to 1,000 journalists.
The subject line does the heavy lifting. My best one ever was "What actually happened in Miami." It got a 50.9 percent open rate. It reads like a story a friend would tell you, not a press release.
For TV, make the yes easy. One sentence that booked me on live TV was: "Would you like to interview the founder?" Keep the pitch short. Say who the guest is, why the story matters this week, and when you are available.
Send at volume and ride the wave
One pitch to one inbox is a lottery ticket. Seventy pitches to seventy right people is a system.
My dad's New York Times op-ed took roughly 70 pitches and one forward. Everything after that, including Good Morning America, came from riding the story through three news cycles.
Press compounds. When the BBC featured Filteroff, we had around 500 users and a team of two. The piece ran and we blew up overnight in London. Later, Jay Shetty mentioned Filteroff on his podcast without me ever pitching him because of the press we already earned.
You are not too early for Good Morning America
The Washington Post featured my mental health community when it had about 150 members and a little over 11,000 messages. The BBC featured Filteroff when we had around 500 users.
Journalists and producers cover stories, not company sizes. If the angle is good, being small can be part of the story. I have landed 200 plus media features across 25 plus countries, including 18 TV appearances, and I have never hired a PR agency. I covered this in more depth in How to Get Press Coverage Without a PR Agency (The Founder's Guide).

Frequently asked questions
Does Good Morning America have a general pitch email?
Good Morning America does not have a public pitch inbox that books guests. Pitches go to individual producers and bookers at ABC News.
How do I find the right producer to contact at GMA?
Find producers by name through LinkedIn, X bios, and segment write-ups. You can also use tools like PressPitch AI to find them and pitch them for you.
What is the best way to pitch a morning show producer?
Lead with an angle tied to a story people are already following, not with your product. Producers care about stories their viewers are already watching.
How many people should I pitch to get on the show?
Volume matters. Landing a major placement like Good Morning America often requires pitching dozens of the right people before one lands. One story took roughly 70 pitches to get the first placement.
Do I need to be a large company to get featured?
No. The Washington Post and BBC featured my projects when they had very few users. Journalists cover stories, not company sizes.
